Matthew 18:18-19 “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. 19 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
Amos 3:3 Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so? God is speaking to us about walking with Him – His desire should be our desire and that is the guarantee of His presence.
Agree in Greek in Matthew 18 is sumphoneo means to agree together, to make a bargain, or to come to an agreement. Sumphoneo is a compound word of sun, “together,” and phone, “a sound,” literally, “to sound together”.
A pretty fascinating picture is emerging as I reflect on Matthew 18. Where we are gathered, He is there, when we agree with Him our prayer is truly His prayer, and an answer is guaranteed. Let us expand this thought further. The first part of Zechariah 12:10 says “Then I will pour out the spirit of grace and prayer on all the people of Jerusalem.
There is a Spirit of prayer , The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of prayer as seen in Romans 8:28 And He Who searches the hearts of men knows what is in the mind of the [Holy] Spirit [what His intent is], because the Spirit intercedes and pleads [before God] in behalf of the saints according to and in harmony with God’s will. The word of God is contained in GRACE! It is amazing that the spirit of Grace accompanies the spirit of Prayer as shown in the way this scripture is packaged. May every word we voice as we pray be sheer grace (Psalm 45:2) To pray in agreement with God and with one another we must be full of grace & truth!
LORD GOD pour out the Spirit of Prayer upon us so that we can pray according to Your will and fulfill Your purpose here at Child of God Sanctuary and every other place You have sent us. Elijah a man like us is the example in the book of James of a man whose righteous prayers availed much. He prayed it should not rain to fulfill the word of God and to turn their hearts back to Him. When we pray, we are enforcing what has been already established as truth by God. His kingdom, His will takes preeminence in our prayers- those are prayers of agreement. Deuteronomy 28:23 No rain will fall, and your ground will become as hard as iron.
1 Kings 8:35-36 Suppose your people sin against you, and you punish them by holding back the rain. If they turn toward this temple and pray in your name and stop sinning, 36 listen from your home in heaven and forgive them. The people of Israel are your servants, so teach them to live right. And please send rain on the land you gave them to be theirs forever.
Elijah prayed again and the rain came , his life , prayers produced the knowledge of God in the people. 1 Kings 18:39 When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The Lord—He is God! The Lord—He is God!”
Jeremiah 1: 11-12 The word of the Lord came to me: “What do you see, Jeremiah?” “I see the branch of an almond tree,” I replied.12 The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.” We see God calling Jeremiah and dealing with his sight, we need to see correctly, perceive correctly so that our prayers can be in sync with God and can be answered because it is His will.
John 5:19 Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He SEES the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.
John 8:28 “You will know me as ‘I AM’ after you have lifted me up from the earth as the Son of Man. Then you will realize that I do nothing on my own initiative, but I only speak the truth that the Father has revealed to me.
We desire to speak in prayer the truth that the Father reveals to us. We desire to see correctly, and we ask of You Holy Ghost to deliver us from spiritual blindness. The right perception activates the help of God brothers and sisters. The right perception or sight comes by lifting up spiritual our eyes at the command of the LORD. The key here is that I see correctly because God has commanded me . In Genesis 13:14 And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward.
Revelation 4:1 After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.
We cry out this afternoon and cry out for sight, for capacity to hear our God and act according to His command. Thank You God for lifting our heads, thank You lifter of our heads and You. For Thou Oh LORD, are shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head!!! We want to pray according to correct sight and perception. We look beyond every limitation for indeed nothing is too difficult for You our omnipotent Father. Thank You for lifting our head! Indeed it is You that has declared openly that You have seated us with Christ in heavenly places, we pray from that position of advantage in Christ.
ONE ACCORD – Acts 2:1-4 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them [b]divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
In John 17 verse 11 Jesus prays for us to be one .We embrace oneness in character , doctrine and purpose this afternoon in the mighty Name of Jesus . Paul exhorts us in Romans 15:6 That we together with one voice should glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Meaning of Accord – homothumadon in Greek- to “rush along” and “in unison” , together the disciples in Acts 2 were living and working in harmony with Christ, they had been commanded to wait in Jerusalem Acts 1:2 2 until the day He was taken up to heaven. Before Jesus left, He gave orders to the apostles he had chosen. He did this through the Holy Spirit.
Being in one accord pleases God, it is His command , being in one accord means that our prayer is consistent with the perceived determined will and purpose of God. You give more grace to the humble, so we submit ourselves and resist every devil and are super sure he has fled from us in the Name of Jesus. James talks about a double minded , unstable mind as one that that cannot receive answers to prayer- and today we are crying out like David “Unite my heart to fear You LORD”.
Our Father and our God here we are by faith migrating to the heart position and location that pleases You and attracts Your favor. To please You, to agree with You and one another is the desire of our hearts , so we move towards You! We depart from inaccurate positions of prayer. We commit ourselves to and yield to the processes that You have initiated so that our minds can be changed, and construct of our thinking transformed so that we can be obedient to the Word of Truth in the mighty Name of Jesus. Let our words be words that frame worlds , times and seasons- we want to speak words full of Your energy , this week let our speech be full of Divine energy determining the state of things , deliver us from empty chatter , lift us to the realm of Your mighty DECREES – we arise to shape the landscape You have allotted to us according to Your will and design in the Name of Jesus. AMERICA, WE DISCIPLE YOU. We decree the beginning of a season of distinction between the righteous and the wicked as it was when Israel left Egypt. We call men out of every system of darkness into the fullness of the light of God. Arise oh God and scatter all Your enemies. We rejoice in our definite victory in Christ ; you have triumphed mightily in Massachusetts and Beyond in the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.
