the shadow of the almighty

Psalm 91:1-2 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Covert = A hiding place, And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime...

Psalm 91:1-2 When you abide under the shadow of Shaddai, you are hidden in the strength of God Most High. 2 He’s the hope that holds me and the stronghold to shelter me,

the only God for me, and my great confidence.

Psalm 91:1 He who dwells in the covert of the Most High will lodge in the shadow of the Almighty.

Covert = A hiding place, And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a COVERT from storm and from rain. ( Isaiah 4:6 )

Covering – Protection.

Psalm 90:1 Lord, You have always been our eternal home, our hiding place from generation to generation.

Psalm 27:5-6 In the day of trouble, He will treasure me in His shelter, under the cover of His tent. He will lift me high upon a rock, out of reach from all my enemies who surround me. Triumphant now, I’ll bring Him my offerings of praise, singing and shouting with ecstatic joy! Yes, I will sing praises to Yahweh!

Psalm 36:7-9 How priceless is Your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.8 They feast on the abundance of Your house; You give them drink from Your river of delights. 9 For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.

Living in union with God produces

Titles of the Names of God used in Psalm 91:1-2

Titles of the Names of God used in Psalm 91:1-2

Let us study the Names of God referenced in the verse we are looking at. One may ask why? The Name reveals God’s nature, character , His reputation, and His purpose. His He is our Father and from knowing Him we are able to know our identity, what our nature should be and how to relate with Him and others. This afternoon by faith we yield to the processes that will produce the knowledge of God so we can walk with Him fruitfully here on earth. Knowing Him will allow me to know the thoughts to think when I am confronting ordinary circumstances or difficult circumstances , when we know Him, we will know the attitude to have, the decisions and choices we should make. We have said previously that those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

Most High: El Elyon.

Most High: El Elyon.

The name of God El Elyon denotes God’s supremacy, His strength, we see this name used in Genesis 14:17-20 After Abram returned from defeating Kedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the king of Sodom came out to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, 19 and he blessed Abram, saying,“Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. 20 And praise be to God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.”Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.

Let us check out who this Elyon is – Deuteronomy 32:8-9 When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, when He divided all mankind, He set up boundaries for the peoples according

to the number of the sons of Israel For the Lord’s portion is His people, Jacob His allotted inheritance.

As we see the revealed nature of God as the MOST HIGH, we begin to understand and lay hold of our identity is as children of the Most High. He-our Father is our confidence. The Most High delivers our enemies into our hands. It is in His strength that we are hidden in!

Almighty: Shadday or El Shaddai

Almighty: Shadday or El Shaddai

The All Sufficient One, He nourishes us, when we dwell under His shadow all opposition is overpowered. Where do we see this awesome name of God Genesis 17:1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, I am the Almighty God; walk and live habitually before Me and be perfect (blameless, wholehearted, complete).

It is in this chapter 17 that God promises Abram a heir, a son disregarding his age and or limitations, God changes Abram’s name from Abram (exalted father) to Abraham (Father of nations). We see this promise fulfilled – we are the descendants of Abraham by faith.

Hebrews 11:12 And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.

As we behold the glory of God through the revelation of His nature and character, we are changed from one glory to another. Knowing God as Elshaddai solidifies our knowledge who our Source is. As I studied this name, I learned something knew that this name implies being Almighty and dealing violently, I see how God violently dealt with sin at the cross when Him who knew no sin to become sin for us so that we might become the righteousness of God.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 “For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly but powerful through God for the tearing down of strongholds. We are tearing down false arguments and every high-minded thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.”

Our God is All Sufficient. Look at the blessings to Joseph Genesis 49:25-26 because of your father’s God, who helps you, because of the Almighty, who blesses you with blessings of the skies above, blessings of the deep springs below, blessings of the breast and womb. 26 Your father’s blessings are greater than the blessings of the ancient mountains, than the bounty of the age-old hills. Let all these rest on the head of Joseph, on the brow of the prince among his brothers.

God does not need anything from anyone, He is able to supply our needs and He is perfect. In Christ God poured out all of Him into own. John 1:16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given.

The LORD: Yahweh.

The LORD: Yahweh

This name is translated into “I AM THAT I AM – The absolute, the unchanging One The One Who is Who was and Who is to come. We see this name in Exodus 3:14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am.[c] This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”

Exodus 3:13-15 A different translation ====” And Moses said to Elohim: behold when I come to the children of Israel and say to them: the Elohim (Almighty One) of your fathers has sent me to you, and they say to me; ‘What is His Name?’ What shall I say to them? And Elohim said to

Moses: EHYEH ASHER EHYEH! (I shall be what I shall be!). And he said: say thus to the children of Israel: EHYEH (I shall be) has sent me to you. And Elohim again said to Moses: Thus shall you say to the children of Israel: YHWH, the Elohim of your fathers, “Elohey Abraham”, “Elohey Yishaq” we “Elohey Yaaqob” has sent me to you. This is my Name forever, and this is My Mention to all generations!”

Our God is the Self-existent One . God is God and Forever He will be God. He exists!

The implication of this revelation to each of us is seen here in Hebrews 11:6 And without faith, it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.

My God: Elohay

My God: Elohay

This God is not just Yahweh ,the God of All but my God, I have a personal relationship with Him. Psalm 18: 1-2 I love You, Lord, my strength. 2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Psalm 18: 16-19 He reached down from on high and took hold of me; He drew me out of deep waters. 17 He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me.

18 They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the Lord was my support. 19 He brought me out into a spacious place; He rescued me because He delighted in me.

In Matthew we see the implication of knowing God personally as our Father- We do are not anxious or worry because He knows us, Our names are inscribed on the palm of His hands and our walls are ever before Him. He says not to worry about tomorrow.

Matthew 6: 31-34“So then, forsake your worries! Why would you say, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ 32 For that is what the unbelievers chase after. Doesn’t your heavenly Father already know the things your bodies require?

33“So above all, constantly seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness, then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly. 34 Refuse to worry about tomorrow, but deal with each challenge that comes your way, one day at a time. Tomorrow will take care of itself.”

Let us Pray :

LORD GOD BUILD THESE STRUCTURES IN OUR SPIRITS AND IN OUR LIVES.

Let Your knowledge produce hope, faith and love. Let Your knowledge armor our minds into one conviction that You are the LORD and there is no other. By faith, we walk into the new week with confidence in Your unfailing love towards us in the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.
