Knowing God as my Jehovah Rapha
A beautiful encouraging account of the Israelites journey
with the LORD towards HIM to worship HIM is recorded for us in Exodus Chapter
15 from verse 22-26. Let us read it from the Voice translation.
Exodus 15:22-26 The Voice
22 Then Moses led Israel away from the Red Sea, and they
entered the desert of Shur. They traveled for three days in the desert before
they found water.
23 When they came to the place where they did find water,
they could not drink it because it was so bitter. So they called the place
Marah, or bitter. 24 Because they were very thirsty, the people complained to
Moses.
Israelites: What are we supposed to drink?
25 Moses then asked the Eternal for help, and the Eternal
showed him a log. Moses threw the log into the bitter water, and the water
became sweet. At Marah the Eternal established an important principle and set a
standard for His people so that He could test them.
Eternal One: 26 If you will listen closely
to My voice—the voice of your God—and do what is right in My eyes, pay
attention to My instructions, and keep all of My laws; then I will not bring on
you any of the plagues that I did on the Egyptians, for I am the Eternal, your
Healer.
I like that this version is in the form of a conversation because
it brings out our interaction with God as an intimate relationship where He
speaks to us. Sickness is bitter. It hurts. It is painful. Sickness is not just
physical – as in headache. We need emotional, physical and spiritual healing. I
have really been troubled by unexplained fevers for years and I can assure you
it is not funny. Being sick leaves you completely helpless. The last time I had
a bad fever- I have them like every week in various degrees and can be
accompanied by severe pain however in June of 2019 I was very sick delirious,
lost, was taken to hospital in an ambulance. It was pathetic. The only thing I
wanted was water to drink which I could not be given at the hospital by mouth I
was groaning “water, water, water” and in
the very depth of my being I recalled that Jesus can be my water and I said
inside my heart “Jesus quench my thirst after all You are my Living Water” and
yes I stayed for hours until I was finally hooked on the IV and given water. I
noticed that in this time of illness there was a place in me that sickness
could not touch, I call that my inner man, my spirit man. There was calm even
though my body was completely weak and in pain. The desire for water had vanished and Jesus by
His Spirit was right there with me. Indeed as He says in His word “If anyone
thirsts let him come to me and drink” – I know I drank from Him and of Him.
In this blog I am sharing my personal journey with the LORD
in the area of sickness whether emotional or physical. Many years ago I was
very distressed emotionally and went to Lowell General Hospital to see if they
could give me something to calm my nerves because I was in the worst place
emotionally , I had suffered from a major betrayal from a close person and had
difficulty dealing with it and could not even sleep, at 3AM I got into my car
and went to the ER, as I sat there I heard as though I was asked “Ciiru what
are you doing here?” pretty much like God asked Adam “where are you?” after he
sinned and hid from God, I took my bag and went home and slept happily , the
Holy Ghost my Eternal and Able Counselor had already done His work even when I
felt at the end of my road.
I am writing this to encourage every one of us to know God
as our enough Help in all times, He knows us more than we know ourselves and He
loves us. We start our journey just like children, a little trust here and
there but He as a Father walks with us and reveals Himself as our Great
Physician as we confide in Him without shame about our joys and our lows, our
pains and our afflictions. I have felt encouraged by God’s Word as the Holy
Ghost brings to remembrance His words during pain moments and giving me relief
as I trust Him to satisfy me. Once the LORD speaks sickness has no option but
to leave. It has no power over me once the Word of God comes, I have heard
words like Romans 8 where there is no more condemnation to those who are in
Christ Jesus because the Law of Life in Christ is what we operate in, In
Corinthians He says to us that One who is joined to the LORD is one One Spirit
with Him and if the same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead dwells
in us then we can be more than sure that He will cast the light of life into
our mortal bodies. God means well for each us. He loves us and will walk with
us in the fire and we will not be scorched, His word should become our medicine
and as we meditate on it we rise above every limitation to fulfill His purpose
and bring Him victory as He desires. God being our Healer is not a myth it is a
reality for us to enjoy. Divine life is lived daily, divine health is also
provided daily. Health is the PRESENCE of GOD in our lives!!!
Let us pray. Our Heavenly Father, Son and Holy Ghost
come and make us Your home, thrill our entire beings and let Your joy possess
us in Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
