Identity:
6e-Renewal of the Mind

Ephesians 4:28. Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.

This shift in mindset is a stark departure from the self-centered worldview that often pervades our society.

Today, we embark on a journey of profound transformation as we explore the captivating concept of the ‘Renewal of the Mind ‘. This theme holds the key to unlocking our deep-rooted connection with God, our Father. Our exploration begins at Ephesians 4:28. Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.
The transformative power of renewing the mind in Christ is staggering. Consider this: ‘A person who once stole no longer does so.’ Instead, they engage in honest labor, not just for their own benefit but also to share with others. This shift in mindset is a stark departure from the self-centered worldview that often pervades our society.
Let Us draw strength from Psalm 116, where David’s unwavering faith in God shines through even in times of affliction. He writes, ‘I believe, and so I speak,’ a statement of faith that Paul later quotes. It’s inspiring to see David commanding his soul to return to a position of rest and confidence that God is in control. This Psalm serves as a powerful reminder of the strength of faith, a beacon of hope in the midst of trials.
2 Corinthians 4:13 But we continue to preach because we have the same kind of faith the psalmist had when he said, “I believed in God, so I spoke.
The topic at hand is identity. In Philippians 2:5, we are urged to have the same mindset as Christ. To achieve this, it’s essential that we understand His mind, and the Word is the means through which we can access this knowledge. When we receive this information by faith and process it in our hearts, it becomes part of our daily living. It’s worth noting the importance of doctrine in this journey. Doctrine is a body of teaching that presents a systemized truth that is widely accepted as a standard of truth. Jesus Christ (PERSON) is the Truth, the Way, and the Life. He dwells in me by faith. I believe this is what our Father intended when He spoke of Abraham in
Genesis 18:17-19 Then the Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do? 18 Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him. 19 For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just, so that the Lord will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him.”

The Word of God provides authoritative direction to those who are born of the Spirit.

As I allow the Word of God to transform my mind, I hear His voice more clearly, and my actions reflect His life. In some translations, it is said that Abraham commanded his children, rather than simply directing them. The Word of God provides authoritative direction to those who are born of the Spirit. These instructions are not casual, but rather authoritative, as we see in the example of Abraham. He was able to confidently command his children because he was commanded by God to sacrifice his son, Isaac. Without hesitation, Abraham went off with a knife in hand to execute the divine command”Yesterday, while I was walking, I came across an interesting scripture.”
Isaiah 9:11 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. “The process of renewing our minds and embracing change is ongoing. We are born as children, but we must continue to grow in wisdom and understanding so that we can bear the responsibilities of the kingdom and represent our Father effectively.”

” 2 John 1:9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.
Which doctrine is this? John 17 gives us a clue, John 17:24-26 “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. 25 O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You, and these have known that You sent Me. 26 And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”

Doctrine helps to equip, correct, edify, and encourage us

This teaching reveals the relationship between a father and a son. It encourages us to have the same mindset as Christ Jesus, who knew His identity and had a close relationship with His Father. This relationship produced the will of God on earth. Doctrine helps to equip, correct, edify, and encourage us. Renewing the mind is a progressive task, which is why scriptures such as Philippians 1:6 say “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
1 John 3:2-3 Beloved, we are God’s children right now; however, it is not yet apparent what we will become. But we do know that when it is finally made visible, we will be just like him, for we will see him as he truly is. 3 And all who focus their hope on him will always be purifying themselves, just as Jesus is pure. (Anyone who has seen Him through discernment and intimate experience keeps doing what is right! If He is the source of our actions, they will be consistent with His Word.)
In closing, Peter 2:9-10 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.10 “Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.
