Grace and Manna

Exodus 16:15 When the people of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, “It is the bread that the Lord has given you to eat.”

Looking thoughtfully on GRACE and Manna
Last week we left off Grace being comparable to Manna. We are saved by Grace we live by Grace. Remember Grace is many sided, Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ . By Grace we entered the kingdom and by Grace we are sustained until we finish the race! Pastor Steve shared with us after Sunday’s teaching this scripture that fits perfectly with our discussion today.
Ephesians 4:5-7. For the Lord God is one, and so are we, for we share in one faith, one baptism, and one Father. 6 And he is the perfect Father who leads us all, works through us all, and lives in us all! 7 And He has generously given each one of us supernatural grace, according to the size of the gift of Christ.
Exodus 16:15 When the people of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, “It is the bread that the Lord has given you to eat.”
Exodus 16:31 The house of Israel named it manna, and it was like coriander seed, white, and its taste was like wafers with honey. (Someone said that vocabulary failed to adequately describe manna. Likewise human wisdom and words cannot sufficiently describe the Amazing Grace of God)
Deuteronomy 8:16-18 He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you. 17 You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” 18 But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. Themes such as all sufficiency of God , dependence on God , humility and trusting God emerge in this picture.
John 6:32-35 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”34 “Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.”35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
2 Corinthians 8:1–3 1 We want you to know, brothers, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, 2 for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. 3 For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord.
2 Peter 1:2, he says explicitly that grace and peace are going to come “in the knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ.” “May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord” Grace is multiplied through the knowledge of God! Let us talk about knowledge for a minute. Paul who we can call the apostle of Grace chief cry was that “I may know HIM” , John says that eternal life is to know God the only true God and Jesus Christ whom He https://unlimitedinchrist.org/ has sent. We see the idea of growth in Grace in scriptures such as
2 Peter 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. I am saved by Grace; I grow by Grace through the knowledge of Gog and of Jesus our Lord. I am fascinated by that last phrase “our LORD” , He must be your Lord, my Lord for you to grow in grace, in peace through His knowledge. The purpose of knowledge is application. We have understanding when we can practically demonstrate the knowledge of God through our thoughts , words , decisions, and actions. To know implies to perceive, to learn, to understand, to be willing, to perform and to experience. It is not abstract, it is not possessing information, it is to apprehend and experience reality. Grace is multiplied to us in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our LORD. To do as God commands is to know God. Know is used for intimacy for example “And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.” We are still gazing into the many sided of Grace here, in John Chapter 15 verse 5 we see this intimacy 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. This knowing produces fruit. The fruit that caused a man like Paul declare boldly I am what I am by the Grace of God! Grace can be verified, Grace is visible! Grace produces a kind of life that only Grace can. Let us pray: Oh that we may know You LORD God Almighty , strengthen us out of Your glorious riches with power through Your Spirit in our inner beings, We lay hold of Christ by faith, let Him dwell in us powerfully , root and establish us in love , we thank You for Your gift of Grace through the working of Your power in our lives, we refuse to receive it in vain, here we are yielding to the purpose for which You have poured this abundant Grace into us, oh that through us Your manifold wisdom will become known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realm according to Your eternal purpose that You accomplished in Christ Jesus our LORD. In Him through faith we approach You with freedom and confidence. –Lord God open our spiritual eyes ,enlighten our understanding to know and experience Your Grace. Let Grace manifest itself outwardly in our lives in increasing fruit. Be exalted in the execution of our day to day lives in the mighty Name of Jesus we pray. Amen
