Identity: Perspective

Isaiah 43:18-19 ESV: “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Perceive is connected to Raah, meaning to see and gain understanding. Perceive comes from the root word Chazah, which signifies vision and deep spiritual insight.

Isaiah 43:18-19 ESV: “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:18-19 NASB: “Do not call to mind the former things Or consider things of the past. 19“Behold, I am going to do something new, Now it will spring up; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.
Perceive means to become conscious of something, become aware.

Perspective root word in Latin “perspicere” means “look through.” The way you see things is your perspective.
Now, let’s read Genesis 16:1-13. Genesis 16:6 -9 “Your slave is in your hands,” Abram said. “Do with her whatever you think best.” Then Sarai mistreated Hagar; so she fled from her 7 The angel of the Lord found Hagar near a spring in the desert; it was the spring that is beside the road to Shur. 8 And he said, “Hagar, slave of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going?” “I’m running away from my mistress Sarai,” she answered. 9 Then the angel of the Lord told her, “Go back to your mistress and submit to her.”
Hagar receives perspective from the Upper Realm and returns as God instructed.
Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
The Unseen Realm influences Hagar’s new perspective. Her viewpoint is rooted in God’s promises and characterized by sacrifice as she returns to an environment where she previously faced mistreatment. The LORD is speaking to us and telling us that He is doing something new, and we should be aware of it.

the Word of God as the key instrument that provides this perspective.

Let us look at another passage in Hebrews 11.24-28 By faith, Moses, when grown, refused the privileges of the Egyptian royal house. He chose a hard life with God’s people rather than an opportunistic soft life of sin with the oppressors. He valued suffering in the Messiah’s camp far greater than Egyptian wealth because he was looking ahead, anticipating the payoff. By an act of faith, he turned his heel on Egypt, indifferent to the king’s blind rage. He had his eye on the One no eye can see, and kept right on going. By an act of faith, he kept the Passover Feast and sprinkled Passover blood on each house so that the destroyer of the firstborn wouldn’t touch them.
How do we gain a God-Perspective:
Colossians 3:1-4 So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from His perspective. 3-4 Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life—even though invisible to spectators—is with Christ in God. He is your life. When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you’ll show up, too—the real you, the glorious you. Meanwhile, be content with obscurity, like Christ. (Focus and Attention)
In 2 Timothy 3, Paul speaks to Timothy about his own life and manner of living as an example to Timothy, as well as the truth imparted through his experiences. He emphasizes the importance of perspective. Paul also highlights how Timothy’s mother and grandmother taught him the scriptures and ultimately points to the Word of God as the key instrument that provides this perspective.
2 Timothy 3:15-17 Remember what you were taught from your childhood from the Holy Scrolls which can impart to you wisdom to experience everlasting life through the faith of Jesus, the Anointed One! 16 God has transmitted His very substance into every Scripture, for it is God-breathed. It will empower you by its instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of godliness. 17 Then you will be God’s servant, fully mature and perfectly prepared to fulfill any assignment God gives you.
