Psalm 16 verse 5-6 Yahweh, You alone are my inheritance. You are my prize, my pleasure, and my portion. You hold my destiny and its timing in Your hands. 6Your pleasant path leads me to pleasant places. I’m overwhelmed by the privileges that come with following You! What is “privilege” ? We hear a lot about “white privilege” in American politics and circles. It’s a right, immunity, benefit , advantage experienced by some group of people. We need to recognize our identity in Christ and our existence though here on earth we are citizens of heaven a kingdom that rules over all! Paul reminds us Philippians 3:20-21 But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for Him to return as our Savior. 21 He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like His own, using the same power with which He will bring everything under His control. Privilege is about “Divine exemption” – By the Blood on the lintels the firstborns of Israel were preserved/exempted from the angel of death assignment that killed firstborns of Egypt. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. Psalms 91:7 – that is exemption. Portion is about our privileged position in Christ when we receive Him as LORD , we are God's chosen people placed at the center of God's plans for blessing. Numbers 19:5 -6 Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, 6 you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.” Colossians 1:13 For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, Portion is about relationship. Portion is about certainty. Portion is about separation. Portion is about that which is weighed out. Portion is about God being “our part” – “our share.” John 14:23 KJV Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. John 15:1-4 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. Portion is about inheritance – 1 Peter 1:4 We are reborn into a perfect inheritance that can never perish, never be defiled, and never diminish. It is promised and preserved forever in the heavenly realm for you! WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS OF THIS KNOWLEDGE THAT THE LORD IS OUR PORTION? Psalm 119:130 The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple. Psalm 119:130 TPT. Break open your Word within me until revelation-light shines out! Those with open hearts are given insight into your plans. Let us rehearse again what understanding is - Biblical meaning of understanding 👉🏿God-given perception of the nature and meaning of things, resulting in sound judgment and decision-making; in particular the ability to discern spiritual truth and to apply it to human disposition and conduct. PRACTICAL LIVING OUT OF OUR NEW IDENTITY AS THE SONS OF GOD HERE ON EARTH. The reason we gather around God and each other is so that we can feast on knowledge and understanding so that we can live lives that are pleasing to God. We started by saying that the LORD is our portion and that we are promising to obey His Words. We have received spiritual truth that the LORD is our portion- our part- our share- our all. What does that mean for our lives? 1) Check your belief system – Receive the kingdom of God. 2) Understand that though you are in the world you are not of the world. 3) Be led by God. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 4) Obey the LORD . Follow instructions. Die to self. 5) Carry this mindset that you are from God and going to Him. 6) Serve the interest of the kingdom of God. Let us begin valuing our citizenship in the kingdom of God.
